Noctua has finally unveiled its top-of-the-line 120mm fan in an all-black color scheme: the NF-A12x25 G2 chromax.black. This fan retains the core technical foundation of the original second-generation NF-A12x25 G2. The key difference is a subtle but significant shift: replacing the classic brown/beige aesthetic with a completely black design. This new look makes it easier to integrate into gaming builds from a design perspective. Noctua itself describes it as a next-generation 120mm fan suitable for both chassis ventilation and air or liquid cooling radiators. It promises the same renowned performance and low noise levels characteristic of the NF-A12x25 G2 family.

The significance lies in the fact that this isn’t just a “good-looking” black fan; it’s the most requested aesthetic version of one of Noctua’s most advanced models. The NF-A12x25 G2 features Progressive Bend blades crafted from Sterrox liquid-crystal polymer, winglets, a hub with a Centrifugal Turbulator, and an extremely tight tip clearance of just 0.5 mm between the blades and the frame. These design elements are engineered to minimize flow losses and optimize performance in both low-restriction scenarios, like case ventilation, and high-static-pressure applications, such as CPU coolers and radiators. In essence: a high-performance fan.

Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 chromax.black Fan Specifications

The Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 PWM chromax.black is a 120 x 120 x 25 mm fan with a speed range of 0 to 1,800 RPM. It can generate an airflow of up to 107.3 m³/h / 63.15 CFM with a static pressure of 3.14 mmH₂O and a maximum noise level of 22.5 dBA. Additionally, this fan comes with an included low-noise adapter. This adapter reduces the fan speed to 1,500 RPM, producing an airflow of up to 87.2 m³/h / 51.32 CFM, with a static pressure of 1.71 mmH₂O and an even lower noise level of 18.1 dBA. It also features a 4-pin PWM connector, a 0% PWM (Zero RPM) mode, SSO2 bearings, a maximum power consumption of 1.8 W, a 6-year warranty, and an estimated lifespan of over 150,000 hours.

This fan is also available as a dual-fan version. The Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 PWM Sx2-PP chromax.black is a two-fan pack designed for Push&Pull configurations or systems with multiple fans mounted side-by-side. The unique aspect of this kit is that the two fans do not spin at exactly the same speed, but rather with a slight offset of approximately ±50 RPM. This helps to prevent harmonic phenomena, intermittent vibrations, or periodic humming caused by acoustic interference between two closely placed fans. This dual-fan pack also offers a cost saving.

This detail makes the Sx2-PP pack a particularly compelling option for 240mm and 360mm radiators, where two or three fans typically operate in parallel, or for Push&Pull setups on coolers/radiators where acoustic interaction can be more noticeable than the fan’s nominal noise level. In other words, Noctua isn’t just selling two units together; they are calibrated as a pair to minimize a genuine acoustic issue in high-performance configurations.

Further Information, Availability, and Launch Pricing

The Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 PWM chromax.black is launching with a recommended price of 34.90 Euros. The dual pack Sx2-PP chromax.black is priced at 64.90 Euros. This means that purchasing the two-pack results in each fan costing 32.45 Euros. Best of all, these prices are identical to the original brown/beige versions when they were released in June 2025, indicating that the black version is not being launched with a price premium.

Regarding the accessory package, Noctua maintains its premium standard. The individual model includes the NA-RC7 Low-Noise adapter, NA-YC1 chromax.black PWM splitter cable, a 30cm NA-EC1 extension cable, four NA-AV2 anti-vibration mounts, and an NA-AVG1 anti-vibration gasket for radiators, along with screws. The Sx2-PP kit doubles the necessary accessories for two fans and includes two units labeled PPA and PPB. It also comes with two low-noise adapters, two extensions, eight anti-vibration mounts, and two radiator gaskets. Both fan options will be available for purchase starting today.
