GTA VI Hacker Warns: Source Code Leak Could Cause Another Delay
Grand Theft Auto VI, arguably the most anticipated game of the decade, is facing a new potential threat. Arion Kurtaj, the teenage hacker previously imprisoned for leaking early videos of the game, has issued a warning from jail: GTA VI's source code might be on the verge of being leaked. Such an event could lead to another significant delay in its highly anticipated release date, currently set for November 19, 2026.
Arion Kurtaj Reemerges with a Disturbing Warning from Prison
In September 2022, even before Rockstar Games officially announced the title, Arion Kurtaj, a member of the Lapsus$ hacking group, was responsible for a massive leak of nearly a hundred GTA VI videos. He was apprehended, and despite a diagnosis of severe autism, his criminal activities persisted. After successfully hacking companies like Uber, he was transferred from a hospital to a British prison.
Now, from his cell, where he reportedly managed to acquire a mobile phone, Kurtaj has been in contact with other individuals. Leaked conversations suggest that the source code for GTA VI could be in someone's possession and potentially revealed soon. Arion himself has expressed surprise that the leak hasn't happened yet, implying it may only be a matter of time.
If this information proves accurate, a source code leak would be a devastating blow to Rockstar Games. Such incidents, like the one suffered by Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine in 2023 with the leakage of its Alpha builds, not only compromise development and intellectual property but almost invariably lead to significant delays in release dates. The gaming community fears that GTA VI, like other affected titles, could see its market arrival postponed once more.
