ASUS has officially set the European price for one of its most exclusive products of the year: the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition 20. As the name suggests, this is an RTX 5090 commemorating the 20th anniversary of Republic of Gamers (ROG). According to a listing for the DACH market (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), this graphics card will carry a price of €5,799. This makes it the most expensive standalone product in the initial wave of ROG Edition 20 devices. Its availability is anticipated for late July or early August. Naturally, if DRAM prices continue to climb, it’s unlikely we’ll see it in stores at this exact price.
The price is particularly striking because the GeForce RTX 5090 officially starts at €2,099 for its base version, according to NVIDIA. Or at least, it did before the AI-driven market frenzy. ASUS’s edition, therefore, is not competing as a conventional RTX 5090 but rather as a luxury piece for enthusiasts, collectors, and extreme builds. In simple terms, the €5,799 price tag places this ROG Astral Edition 20 in a tier nearly three times higher than the official base price of the RTX 5090. This positions it as the most expensive RTX 5090 on the market if we focus solely on official pricing, and one of the company’s most costly products, even surpassing some desktops or laptops.
Appearance of the €5,799 ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 Edition 20
The ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 Edition 20 is more than just a cosmetic upgrade. ASUS presents it as a highly extreme version of the ROG Astral RTX 5090, featuring a configurable AMOLED display and a transparent glass backplate to showcase its internal design. It retains the quad-fan cooling system from the Astral family, complemented by liquid metal and the patented vapor chamber to sustain high frequencies. A significant aspect of its aggressive design is its power delivery. ASUS indicates that the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Edition 20 can reach up to 800W of consumption via the 16-pin connector along with the GC-HPWR adapter for compatible BTF motherboards.
The announcement also confirms the overall positioning of the ROG Edition 20 family in Europe. ASUS has listed other products with similarly elevated prices. The ROG Crosshair X870E Edition 20 motherboard combined with the ROG Ryujin 360 Edition 20 AIO cooler will cost €2,999. The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-G Edition 20 monitor will be priced at €1,299.90. The ROG Thor 3000W Titanium III Edition 20 power supply will cost €999, and the ROG Destrier Edition 20 chair is also listed at €999.
Collectively, ASUS is leveraging the 20th anniversary of ROG to reinforce its premium brand image, rather than to launch affordable products. The ROG Astral RTX 5090 Edition 20 perfectly embodies this strategy: a graphics card likely to appeal to a very niche audience, but serving as a technological and design showcase to demonstrate how far ASUS can push its Republic of Gamers line when price is no longer a concern.
