Alongside the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6, the German company has released an additional, slightly simpler model. This is why we also have the be quiet! Dark Rock 6 for review, the single-tower model with a single fan. It retains its semi-passive functionality and offers very interesting features.
Before delving into the review of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6, we would like to thank be quiet! for their trust in El Chapuzas Informático by providing this product for our analysis.

Packaging and Accessories
We begin the review of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6 with its packaging: a black cardboard box displaying the product’s design on the top. On two of its sides, it details its main features and technical specifications.
Inside the box, we find the cooler well protected by a cardboard frame. Most of the accessories are housed in a second cardboard box, with the exception of a screwdriver as seen in the image.
The accessory kit for the be quiet! Dark Rock 6 includes, in addition to the screwdriver, a syringe of thermal paste, the installation manual, and the mounting kit for AMD AM5/AM4 and Intel LGA 1851/1700/1200/115x sockets. This makes the cooler compatible with all current domestic processors, and even many older ones.
be quiet! Dark Rock 6
We now focus the review of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6 on the cooler itself after removing it from its packaging. In front of us is a medium-sized model, as indicated by its dimensions of 102.4 x 139 x 162 mm (Height, Width, Depth). However, with a weight of 1.005 kg and an all-black design, it feels substantial in hand.
Aesthetically, it features a shroud that covers the top and two sides, highlighted by a brushed aluminum plate with the be quiet! logo on its surface.
Furthermore, on one side, there is a switch that allows configuring the cooler’s Performance or Quiet mode. The Performance mode offers the highest performance, with a noise level of up to 31.1 dBA at maximum revolutions. The Quiet mode, on the other hand, offers a lower fan speed and even keeps the fan off below 40% in PWM mode, making it completely silent.
135mm Silent Wings Fan
The 135mm Silent Wings fan of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6 allows for a rotational speed of up to 2,000 RPM. At its maximum, it can generate an airflow of 79.48 CFM or 135.04 m3/h, as well as a static pressure of 2.48 mmH2O. It also promises a lifespan of up to 300,000 hours, which translates to over 34 years of uninterrupted operation.
51 Aluminum Fin Tower with 6 Heatpipes
Removing the top cover, which has magnetic attachment, we can see how the tower of 51 aluminum fins is traversed by 6 U-shaped nickel-plated copper heatpipes of 6 mm diameter. These, along with a base made of the same material, are responsible for dissipating up to 220W of TDP from the processor to keep temperatures in check.
Mounting on an LGA 1851 Motherboard
For the testing in the review of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6, we used an Intel LGA 1851 socket motherboard. Therefore, we configured the backplate with the screws in their outermost position, securing them on the opposite side with the included rubber washers.
The backplate is placed from the rear of the motherboard and secured from the front with four double nuts. Two metal brackets rest on these, which are in turn fastened with four screws.
We only need to fasten the two screws of the metal bracket included with the cooler, but we must not forget to apply thermal paste to the processor beforehand. Additionally, it’s worth noting that this cooler does not overhang the RAM slots, allowing for installation with RAM modules of any height.
Test Bench and Methodology
We used the following test bench for the review of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6:
- Chassis: Thermaltake Core P3 TG Pro
- Motherboard: MSI MEG Z890 ACE
- Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 285K
- Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition
- RAM: Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 CUDIMM 8,400 MHz
- Power Supply: be quiet! Dark Power 14 1000W
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro
To analyze its performance, we used the Aida64 stress test with a 5-minute pre-heating period. Afterwards, with the temperature stabilized, we measured the average processor temperature for the next minute.
be quiet! Dark Rock 6 Performance
It’s finally time to analyze firsthand in the review of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6 the performance this cooler offers. As we have seen, this model is a bit limited for a processor with such a high TDP as the 285K, although it does manage to keep temperatures below 100 ºC, thus avoiding thermal throttling. However, with processors with a lower TDP, we will obviously have plenty of margin to stress it, even to reduce its noise level. In our case, we reached a maximum of 51.1 dBA, a figure that becomes bothersome without other sounds to mask it.
Conclusion
After completing the review of the be quiet! Dark Rock 6, we must say that we are looking at a cooler that truly offers good performance, even if it’s not as evident with a processor like the 285K. Handling such a high TDP is not easy, but for managing the TDP of most processors, it will have no problem. It’s true that, compared to its bigger brother, losing a fan and a second tower might make one think it would lose a lot of performance, but nothing could be further from the truth. Its extra fins and good construction make them perform quite similarly, while this one is much more compact.
Availability and Price
The be quiet! Dark Rock 6 is launched on the market with a recommended price of 89.90 euros, 30 euros less than the Pro version. It remains a rather high price for its performance, especially considering the significant competition from AIO liquid coolers or even some modest air coolers nowadays.
