Starlink has introduced a new price increase for its satellite internet plans in Spain. This adjustment comes just two months after a restructuring of its residential plans. The changes affect the Residencial 200 and Residencial Max plans, which will see their monthly fees rise by 6 euros. The most basic plan, Residencial 100, remains unchanged at 29 euros per month. Starlink attributes this price adjustment to the strong demand for the service and increased global operational costs, stating the need for continued investment in network capacity, stability, and coverage.

Following this update, Starlink’s residential plans in Spain are now structured into three tiers. The Residencial 100 plan stays at 29 euros per month, offering download speeds of 80 to 100 Mbps and upload speeds of 15 to 35 Mbps, bundled with the Starlink Mini X antenna and Mini WiFi 5 router. The Residencial 200 plan now costs 45 euros per month, up from the previous 39 euros. This plan provides download speeds of 140 to 200 Mbps and upload speeds of 15 to 35 Mbps, along with the Standard 4 antenna and WiFi 6 router. Lastly, the Residencial Max plan increases from 59 to 65 euros per month, delivering download speeds exceeding 400 Mbps, upload speeds of 20 to 40 Mbps, prioritized traffic, and the Standard 4 equipment with WiFi 6, plus a Mini Mesh for extended coverage.

The most notable price increase isn’t just the recent 6-euro monthly hike, but the cumulative change since March. Previously, Starlink offered a simpler pricing structure with plans like Residencial Lite and Residencial. In March, the company transitioned to three tiers, segmenting services more clearly by features and speed. The latest price adjustments mean that the plan offering the most comprehensive experience, equivalent to the highest performance service, has risen from 39 euros before March to 65 euros per month, representing an approximate increase of 67%.

The impact on users can be viewed from different perspectives. Considering only the latest increase, Residencial 200 goes from 39 to 45 euros, a 15.4% rise, and Residencial Max increases from 59 to 65 euros, a 10.2% rise. However, comparing with the situation before the March reorganization reveals a more significant change: maintaining maximum performance and network priority now costs substantially more than just a few months ago. The current market conditions explain Starlink’s ability to implement these changes.

In rural and remote areas of Spain, where fiber optic connections are unavailable and fixed 5G often lacks sufficient capacity, Starlink has emerged as one of the few viable alternatives. Network traffic data suggests that Starlink may already be the sixth-largest operator in Spain, potentially serving over half a million unique active users, though this figure is not officially confirmed by the company.

This number starkly contrasts with the UNICO Demanda Rural Conéctate 35 program, which offers Hispasat satellite internet for 35 euros per month. This plan provides download speeds of up to 200 Mbps but suffers from very high latency for online gaming (600 to 700 ms compared to Starlink’s 25 to 45 ms). Reports from March indicated that only about 11,500 unique users had signed up for this government-subsidized program, underscoring that users have demonstrated a preference for paying more for Starlink’s superior connection.
